Fancy Food Calories

In this experiment, we measured the macro nutrient comparison between Cheetos and almonds. By burning the food to raise the water temperature and using the equation m•c (Tf - Ti) where m= the mass of the water (in grams), c= the specific heat of water (1 cal/g*C), Tf= final temperature of water, and Ti= the initial temperature of water, we were able to find the energy calories. We did this 3 times and took the average for both the cheeto and the almond. These were the results:



As a result, the almonds had more energy calories, therefore, giving the person eating them more energy. Even though the almonds burned longer than the Cheetos, the Cheetos are worse for you because of all the artificial ingredients and they do not give as much energy as the almonds do. After eating Cheetos, you are more likely to “crash” because of the lack of protein and other macronutrients.
